Welcome to the new season of CIRQ. I founded CIRQ back in 2009, with the vision of crafting delicious wines from the very best Russian River Valley sites. Since then our story has unfolded in a variety of exciting ways. I’m glad you are part of this journey with me, my family, and my team.
In the summer of 2018, I made the decision to transition from Kosta Browne to make CIRQ my sole (and soul) focus. My wife Sarah and I realized our lifelong dream of owning a family estate winery in the heart of the Russian River Valley, a place we call CIRQ’s forever home. We’ve spent the last year establishing our roots at our new property, working closely with our team on long-term plans and crafting future blends of CIRQ. Our wines are aging beautifully in barrels, and we are beyond excited for what’s ahead.
This summer, our estate will undergo a complete transformation with the vision of bringing to life CIRQ’s unique personality and exquisite style. We look forward to hosting members by appointment starting in the fall of 2020. Our team has also been working on new opportunities to deepen your connection with us. Still a bit early to share, but in late fall of 2020 we will be releasing a new brand. Stay tuned for more on that, but I can assure you it will be an incredible addition to our family of wines.
For now, I’m thrilled to release our 2016 CIRQ Pinot Noirs from Treehouse and Bootlegger’s Hill vineyards. These vineyard sites are magical places that I have admired and become very fond of over the years. I crafted the wines in what has become the signature CIRQ style – elegant with refined intensity and finesse. The fruit from this season was nothing short of exceptional, resulting in wines that showcase fantastic texture and suppleness, with a vivacious character through their core. They are ready to enjoy now but will continue to age gracefully in a cellar.
For the 2017 vintage and beyond, CIRQ will move away from the single-vineyard model, and instead blend the highest-quality fruit from different vineyard sites in the Russian River Valley. The goal: To create the best pinot noir possible through my lens. I see the new direction as a natural evolution toward one wine created from the best grapes in a region where all things grow well. Our 2017 is resting gracefully in bottle and will make its big debut at our next offering in July of 2020. It’s going to be spectacular.
Production of our wines will continue to be limited, and that’s purposeful: Slow growth for us is essential so we can focus on our vision of crafting the best wines possible. We are committed to maintaining relationships with our valued members and look forward to sharing our newest releases with you.
All my best!
